Single Screens In Telangana To Close Down Due To Low Attendance

Over the past few months, the Tollywood trade has been going through a tough time as big budget movies with top stars have been scarce. Couple that with the excitement of the IPL and general elections, and it's been especially challenging for small and medium budget films released in the last two months.

Unfortunately, some single screen exhibitors in Telangana have made the tough decision to temporarily close their theaters to minimize their losses. Starting from May 17, most single screens in Telangana will be shut for 10 days, with plans to reopen in June when the situation hopefully improves.

While a few older movies with Tollywood stars were re-released and performed decently for a short time, the earnings weren't enough to cover costs. We're keeping our fingers crossed for the upcoming high budget entertainers like Prabhas and Deepika Padukone’s "Kalki 2898 AD," Allu Arjun’s "Pushpa 2: The Rule," and others to help turn things around for the industry soon.
