Shahid Kapoor to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj?

Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor has been making it into the news by doing remake movies lately. But now, rumors that Shahid Kapoor is going to play role of a brave Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji is doing rounds on the internet. Digging deep into the details, Shahid Kapoor is likely to star in an upcoming movie produced by Ashwin Varde. Shahid and Ashwin have already worked together for Kabir Singh movie and this will mark their second collaboration. It seems like Shahid Kapoor will be seen as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film. 

Earlier, Sharad Kelkar portrayed the same role in Ajay Devgn's 'Tanhaji' movie and now Shahid Kapoor is going to appear as Shivaji. Ashwin in association with Lyca Productions are discussing multiple ventures and one of them is a period drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji. That role now went to Shahid Kapoor. However, the 'Jab We Met' actor hasn't signed the dotted line yet. Earlier, Shahid played the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in a period drama, 'Padmaavat'. On the other hand, Shahid Kapoor is also busy with his upcoming releases, 'Jersey' on November 5, 2021.
