The Tamil version of Kangana Ranaut's upcoming biopic drama film, Thalaivi, has been censored with a clean 'U' certificate. The makers will soon apply for Telugu and Hindi versions also.

"Thalaivi" is based on the real story of late actor-politician Jayalalitha, who served six times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Kangana playing the lead role in the film.

It is directed by A. L. Vijay and produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Shailesh R Singh, and Brinda Prasad under the banners of Vibri Motion Pictures, and Karma Media And Entertainment. Thalaivi.

The movie was all set to release on April 23 this year in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages, which was pushed to a later date due to the covid-19 pandemic. Now, according to reports, makers will be releasing Thalaivi in theatres in August this year.

Apart from Kangana Ranaut, the movie also stars Arvind Swamy as MGR, along with Nassar, Bhagyashree, Samuthirakani, among others in main roles.
