Fans who are well-versed in Kamal Haasan's illustrious career are familiar with his ambitious project, Marudhanayagam. Initially announced in 1991 and filming starting in 1997, this film, which was directed and produced by the multi-talented actor himself, has always sparked excitement amongst his admirers, despite ultimately being put on hold.

In a recent interview where he was discussing his upcoming film Indian 2, directed by Shankar Shanmugam, Kamal Haasan addressed questions about Marudhanayagam. With his usual wit and charm, he playfully suggested that he might revive the project once the individual who doubted how a 106-year-old Senapathi in Indian 2 could pull off daring stunts no longer raises the question.

Thinking about Marudhanayagam, Kamal found it quite amusing to think how the same person would react to seeing him play a 40-year-old character who was no longer alive (Muhammed Yusuf Khan) at the age of 70. Kamal mentioned that it could be done but didn't want to share any specifics about a possible resurrection of the project, leaving eager fans eagerly waiting for more updates.

For those who may not know, Marudhanayagam was meant to be a groundbreaking film in Indian cinema, boasting a huge budget of ₹85 crores. Even though some parts were filmed, financial challenges led to the need for international funding to make Kamal's dream of a multilingual release a reality.

The main hurdle now is figuring out how to realistically show significant age changes on screen, something Kamal is still thinking about. The use of top-notch technology and high production costs only add to the uncertainty surrounding the future of the film.
