'Kabzaa' Release Sparks Backlash As Fans Call It KGF's Rip-Off

Kabzaa's release on March 17, 2023, has been met with controversy and backlash, with many criticizing the movie for glorifying the underworld and promoting violence.

Kabzaa, a highly anticipated film, was released today (March 17, 2023), in five languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam, across 4000 screens. The theatrical rights for Tamil Nadu were acquired by Lyca Productions, while Anand Pandit acquired the distribution rights for the Hindi version.

However, the release of the movie has been met with controversy and backlash. There have been accusations made by some people that this movie bears striking similarities to the popular Indian film "KGF" (Kolar Gold Fields). Both movies are set in the underworld and feature themes of power struggles, politics, and violence. Some have pointed out similarities in the main character's appearance, the use of slow-motion shots during fight scenes, and even the film's logo. However, others argue that "Kabzaa" has its own unique storyline and characters and that any similarities are simply coincidental.

Not only that, the film has been accused of glorifying the underworld and promoting violence, with many critics and members of the public arguing that it sets a bad example for society. The title of the movie, which translates to 'seizure' or 'takeover', has also been criticized for being insensitive to the struggles of those who have lost their property to powerful individuals and groups.

While the director and cast have defended the movie, stating that it is not a glorification of the underworld but a realistic portrayal of the struggles of a common man, the backlash has continued to grow. The debate around the responsibility of artists and filmmakers to consider the impact of their work on society has once again come to the forefront, as the release of Kabzaa has sparked a wider discussion about the role of cinema in shaping public opinion.
