Rise of OTT platforms has been remarkable during the pandemic, particularly in India. However, concerns have emerged regarding the lack of censorship and regulatory guidelines for digital content.

To address these concerns, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has blocked access to 18 OTT platforms found violating regulations. These platforms were found to distribute content considered obscene, vulgar, and sometimes pornographic.

In addition to OTT platforms, the government has also taken action against 19 websites and removed 7 apps from Google Play Store and 3 apps from Apple App Store. Moreover, 57 social media accounts linked to these platforms have been disabled in India.

This move has sparked curiosity about the extent of government control over digital content, leaving people eager to see what steps will be taken next.
