Alia Bhatt’s Movie Jigra Is A Modern Take On The Classic Hit From The Past.

Alia Bhatt is making a splash with her latest film, Jigra, an action drama that also stars Vedang Raina and is produced by Karan Johar under his Dharma Productions banner.

The buzz is that Jigra is an official remake of Karan Johar’s 1983 film Gumrah, which was produced by his father, Yash Johar. The original film followed a man who goes to great lengths to rescue his lover from a prison in a foreign country. In Jigra, however, the plot has been adjusted to feature a heroine on a mission to save her brother, though the core story, setting, and emotional beats remain similar.

The original Gumrah, which starred Sridevi, Sanjay Dutt, and Rahul Roy, did not fare well at the box office. It will be interesting to see how Jigra performs.
