A Tribute To The Enchanting And Distinguished Indian Musician- S. P. Balasubrahmanyam (1946 – 2020)

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam is one of the most celebrated playback singers of multiple eras, who took his last breath in Chennai at the age of 74 on Friday at the MGM Healthcare.

A tribute to the enchanting and distinguished Indian Musician- S. P. Balasubrahmanyam   (1946 – 2020) 

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam is one of the most celebrated playback singers of multiple eras, who took his last breath in Chennai at the age of 74 on Friday at the MGM Healthcare.  

S.P Balasubrahmanyam was an impeccable who Indian musician, playback singer, music director, actor, dubbing artist, and film producer who worked predominantly by pitching in his finest practice in several languages i.e. Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam cinemas. He sang and composed over a whopping 40,000 songs in 16 Indian languages! No wonder why he's such a versatile personality who has earned love and admiration from all over India and foreign countries. 

Our beloved Balasubrahmanyam was one of the people who gave up studying under obligation and chose to follow his dreams. He developed and taste for music at a very young age and passionately coveted to seek a career through it. He pursued music simultaneously with his engineering studies and won many awards at several singing competitions. He won his first-ever award back in 1964 in a music competition for amateur singers coordinated by the Madras-based Telugu Cultural Organization.  

His hunger for seeking more events for creating his music career was never relieved. Balasubrahmanyam visited music composers seeking opportunities, his first audition song was "Nilave Ennidam Nerungadhe" where he was given multi-lingual verses in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Sanskrit, English and Urdu. 

Balasubrahmanyam made his debut in film music as a singer on Dec 15, 1966, with Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna. He possesses the world record in the Guinness Book of World Records for having harmonized the most number of song recordings by any singer. 

A skilled and gifted singer, he is profoundly honoured for his unbelievably soulful vocal range, sonorous and mellow voice, and a distinguishing attribute. These finest traits enabled him to manifest across several genres of Indian music. His path to singing is well-regulated he endures apprehending the full essence of the poetic songs that he sings.

Na Cheli Rojave (Roja 1992), Dil Deewana (Maine Pyaar Kiya 1989), 

Pehla Pehla Pyaar Hai (Hum Aapke Hain Kaun...! 1994), Anjali Anjali (Retro Gold Telugu 2016), Ee Petaku Nene Mestri (Mutha Mestri 2014),  Madai Thiranthu (Nizhalgal 1980), and this list never ends. 

We can proudly acclaim that S.P Balasubrahmanyam was an incredible achiever who has earned a commendable measure of success in his musical career. He won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer 6 times, the Nandi Awards in Telugu cinema 25 times from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He has won National Film Awards encompassing four languages, 5 South Filmfare Awards and a copious number of state awards from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He also earned civilian awards such as Padmashri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2011) from the Government of India. 

When one truly tries to express the greatness and the story of the legendary S.P Balasubrahmanyam the person can never stop because words fall short for this incredibly talented person who has invested his finest works in the entertainment industry. The news of his demise has drowned his fans' hearts in sorrow. His death has become a void in the entertainment industry and it may never be fulfilled. One can say that he has lived his life fully by chasing his dreams and becoming exactly what he dreamt of being. His music is a magical symphony that sways one's mind and soul. It is fair to conclude that unquestionably, by the remembrance of S.P Balasubrahmanyam, the heart of the entertainment industry will always be assured and inspired to thrive.
