Sankara Sastri is a Carnatic musician and a devotee of Lord Shiva. Tulasi, the daughter of a prostitute, admires Sastri's music and decides to spend her life in his service. But, Tulasi who is forced to become a prostitute, takes refuge at Sastri's after slaying a pervert. This creates a scandal and Tulasi leaves the village. Years later, Tulasi returns wishing her son becomes Sastri's student.
