    Story

The movie is set in Kozhikode, Kerala, where the outbreak of the Nipah Virus seized the complete state. A patient Zachariah Mohammad gets admitted to the Government Medical College with severe cough and vomitings. He succumbs even before receiving the treatment. Within days there is another case, this time a Nurse Akhila (Rima Kallingal) with symptoms akin to previous. Government machinery comes into play and takes measures to control the outbreak. How hard the government does to stop the spread and the emotional trauma victims family faces forms the remaining story.

    Review

Aashiq Abu's Nipah Virus is a perfect tribute to the faceless, nameless persons who helped contain and fight the Nipah virus.

A series of deaths in the Kozhikode and Malappuram districts in May threw the doctors and state administration into a tizzy as they struggled to identify the disease and the source while they toiled hard to control it.

The emotional scenes have been very well crafted with close to the heart scenes that keep the audience tied to the screens. Sushin Shyam’s touching background score adds to the melancholy mood.

Actors, have put up a very decent performance. Although most of the lead actors are new to Telugu audiences except Revathi, Rahman, they capture the viewers with their enthusiastic and natural acting.

To unfold the story from the perspective of all the characters connected to the main plot has certainly affected the pace of the movie. The film, nevertheless, concludes on an influential and emotional note.

    Verdict

A heart-touching movie, not an entertainer but sure to keep you prepared for the hard times. A must watch with the family.
