Story 

Johnny (Tovino Thomas) is a multi-talented artist. He not only paints well but also creates beautiful things with scrap. He is a short-tempered person and always falls into troubles because of his anger issues. One day, he fights with a Bangalore girl Niharika (Ahana Krishna Kumar) because of some misunderstanding but they soon become friends. Niharika who doesn't want to stay in her uncle JP (Srikanth Murali)'s house moves into Johnny's house. Because of the sudden death of his parents, Johnny suffers from Necrophobia. At the same time, he realizes that he also has cancer symptoms. Just when he was planning to start a new life with Niharika, he dies. Just a few days before his death, Niharika also commits suicide. What is the reason behind their death forms the rest of this story. 

Review

The movie starts with the death of Johnny and Niharika. The proceedings are all about the police investigations as well as the flashback of Johnny and Niharika.  

The twists and turns are placed really well. In some scenes, the film felt like a regular murder mystery. However, the director also embedded a beautiful love story amid the mystery. Though their love story ended abruptly, the film has a convincing ending. Also, the investigation scenes could have been better.  

Music by Sooraj S Kurup is superb. Though the songs are not catchy, his BGM elevated all the scenes. He also made a guest appearance in the film. Nimish Ravi's cinematography is the backbone of the film. He has produced some mind-blowing visuals for the film. Editing could have been better. Because the runtime is so long and most of the scenes in the second half felt dragged.  

Tovino Thomas is undoubtedly the show-stealer with his stellar performance in the film. Ahaana Krishna is good in her role and impresses with her performance. Nithin George performed well. Anwar Shareef did a convincing job. Vinitha Koshy justified her role.  

Verdict

'Luca alias Johnny' is not like the rest of the murder mysteries. Despite having a fresh concept, the film is boring at times and ended as a painful love story.
