Forensic

Overall, Forensic is an investigative thriller that has a decent first half but things get bogged down in the second and crucial part. Mamta Mohan Das carries the film well for the most part but the been there done that kind of a feel in the last half hour spoils the mood of the audience.

    Story

It is a thriller that revolves around a serial killer Alphonse Kurian (Giju John) who kills young girls and also has a history of killing his father. How chief investigating officer Rithika Xavier (Mamatha Mohandas) and Samuel John Kattookkaran (Tovino Thomas), a forensic expert solves the case keeping aside their troubled past is what Forensic is all about.

    Review

If watching a thriller is what thrills you, it does the magic with some odds here and there. It has twists that makes one gasp with surprise but these twists miss the logic a few times. There are some obvious lapses that Akhil Paul and Anas Khan who have co-written and directed the film have missed out thereby making them film not get its due credit.

Tovino looks his usual appealing, cheeky self and fits well as a forensic expert. He does the magic with ease, especially stunts and humour. His humour has to be specially mentioned in such a dark movie.

Mamta is exceptionally watchable and balances her part as a tough cop and adds emotions well when it comes to depicting the troubled past. Renji Panicker and Saiju Kurup lend support and fuel up the prediction game.

With Jakes Bejoy's music and Akhil George's cinematography, creepy moments have become creepier.

    Verdict

This movie asks for a bit more tight screenplay from the director and writer. To sum up, a watchable film for the ones who love thrillers and who can bear not-so-gripping screenplay.
