    Review

As expected '99 songs' movie islike an ode to music and passionate aspiring musicians. Though the film has succeeded in showcasing the passion and perseverance of the protagonist in a beautiful way, the slow paced narration will irk the audience. Also, the major conflict of the film is not executed in a proper way which makes it underwhelming for the audience. However, the movie has its bright moments and showcases the characters in a realistic way. The film will give a musical ride to the audience loaded with a romantic story and a lot of commercial elements.

AR Rahman has made a beautiful storyline for the film. Though he has loaded the film with right emotions, his narrative is quite slow and moves with Snail pace. However, Rahman's songs and background score are the biggest plus points for the film. Justifying the title, the film impress the audience with it's beautiful songs and music. AR Rahman's music is the soul of the film and sets the screen on fire. Most of the songs are conceptualized like a music video which takes the story forward. The visuals are stylish and bright. cinematography is topnotch. Editing is click.

Ehan Bhat took up to play the role of a brooding musician. He has delivered an honest performance. Even in the emotional scenes, he slipped into his character with ease and has done a decent job. Despite being the debutante, Edilsy Vargas emoted well and looked glamorous as well. Her character arc is not that convincing. The chemistry between the two leads worked out well. Manisha Koirala and Lisa Ray did convincing jobs in the respective roles. Tenzing Dalha also acted well. The rest of the actors made their presence felt. However, the lack of known actors can also be considered as one of the setbacks of the film.

    Verdict

Despite having regular and predictable story line, the film have some surprising and bright moments which keeps the audience engaged. The strong emotions and the soulful music also made the movie a commercial flick.
