Before entering into acting, he used to work with his father in their own production house named, "Sumanth Art Productions". Later he made his acting debut with the film "Tuneega Tuneega" in 2012. But gained fame with his second film, "Anthaka Mundu Aa Tarvatha". Sumanth was also seen in the films such as Lovers, Chakkiligintha, Kerintha and Columbus. He was last seen in the film "Right Right". Sumanth Ashwin is the son of Maha Sankranthi Raju aka M. S. Raju, who has won 4 Filmfare Awards, becoming the first Indian producer to receive three consecutive Filmfare Awards.
