Varma has directed, written and produced films across multiple genres like 'Psychological thrillers", "Underworld gang warfare", "politician,criminal ,nexus", and "musicals" in multiple languages (Telugu and Hindi). RGV made his debut with the Telugu and Hindi Films 'Shiva'. RGV started his film career in the Telugu film industry, as Assistant director for the films 'Raogaarillu' and 'Collectorgari Abbai'. He has received Nandi Award for Best Direction and six state Nandi Awards. He wrote an Autobiography titled 'Na Ishtam', it discusses his life experiences and philosophy.
