Venkat Ramaiah (SV Rangarao) and Kanaka Durga (Suryakantham) adopt Suguna (Savithri). Then they have their own child Varalakshmi, Kanaka Durga's affection for Suguna lessens. Vengalappa (Relangi) then adopts Suguna. She becomes a doctor and loves Chandram (ANR). Chandram suffers from tuberculosis and forces Suguna to marry doctor Raghunath (Jaggayya). Dr Raghunath dies in an accident. Chandram is cured of TB and returns. Suguna decides to dedicate her life to social work. She convinces Chandram to marry Varalakshmi but Kanaka creates problems in their relations! Will Suguna correct everything?

Pratap (NTR) the son of the king of Udayagiri has a desire to marry Nymphs because of which he is banished by his father. He is advised by a Goddess in the form of an old lady, to rob the sari of one of the four Nymphs bathing in a river to make them wed him, but she strictly warns him to keep it out of their reach by all means. He weds them by hiding the sari in his leg but dangers follow him.
