A kind-hearted cowboy replaces his lookalike to free a village from the clutches of an evil man. The residents of a fictitious Western village meet a criminal (Lawrence) who resembles their missing marshal. They convince him to pretend to be their marshal to defend their village from an evil villain. In the midst of this, one half of a treasure map makes an appearance, adding fuel to the fire.
