While Sudheer Babu is the protagonist named Lighting Suri Babu, Anandhi plays Sridevi, who runs a soda centre. Suri Babu is jailed after being charged with murder. The love story of the couple holds strong despite social barriers. Overall, Sridevi Soda Center gives an impression of watching a simple rural drama boosted with commercial movie elements.

The film is named after Captain Batra’s code name which is Shershaah. Sidharth Malhotra as Captain Vikram Batra personifies the free-spirited and courageous nature of the captain both in his personal and professional life. In real life, Captain Batra was just 25-years-old when he escorts a team at the Kargil war and Sidharth Malhotra looks the part. Kiara Adani is a woman head-over-heels in love with Captain Vikram Batra and has a strong identity and speaks her truth. The war scene ends with Captain Batra’s popular phrase- ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’.
