Cate Blanchett (Catherine Elise Blanchett) is an Academy Award-winning actress known for roles in an array of esteemed films, including 'Elizabeth,' 'The Aviator,' 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,' 'Blue Jasmine' and 'Carol.' Blanchett has appeared in over 50 films and over 20 theater productions. Cate graduated from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1992 and, had won both critical and popular acclaim in a short span of time. On graduating from NIDA. Blanchett's Golden Globe-winning portrayal of England's Queen Elizabeth I in Elizabeth earned the actress her first Academy Award nomination. She was 29 years old.She made her acting debut with the film "Kaboria" in 1990. She joined Sydney Theatre Company's production of Caryl Churchill's "Top Girls", then played Felice Bauer, the bride inTim Daly's "Kafka Dances", winning the 1993 Newcomer Award from the Sydney Theatre Critics Circle for her performance. From there Cate Blanchett moved to the role of Carol in David Mamet's searing polemic "Oleanna", also won the Rosemont Best Actress Award, her second award that year. She then co-starred in the ABC Television's prime time drama Heartland 1994.
