Amala Akkineni was born on 12th September 1968 in Kolkata to a Bengali father who was a naval officer and an Irish mother. Amala is an Indian film actress and Animal welfare activist. She has acted in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films.  Amala made her entry with a Tamil film titled Mythili Yennai Kadali directed by T. Rajendar, which was a big hit. She has also worked in many Tollywood movies and few Bollywood movies. Apart from Tamil and Telugu she also acted in few Kannada and Malayalam films.  Winning overnight stardom in a Tamil film by popular director T. Rajendar, she charmed cinemagoers in a flurry of fifty films. She acted in many Tamil and Telugu movies. Her acting in Pushpak and Agninakshtram (Gharshana) is impressive. She acted with Telugu Film Actor Nagarjuna (Nagarjuna Akkineni) in hits like Nirnayam and Shiva. The movie Shiva was a smash hit and brought her huge fame and recognition. She acted with iconic actors like Rajinikanth, Prabhu, Kamal Hassan, Mohan, Mammootty in Tamil, Suresh Gopi and Mohanlal in Malayalam and Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Chiranjeevi and Rajashekar in Telugu among several others. She is a vegan. She is also a conservationist. She also teaches Yoga for women, and actively promotes communal harmony. She has a son named Akhil.
