Set during the 17th century, when the Mughals planned to capture the Kondhana fortress as the capital of South India and extend their empire. The Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj orders his loyal general Tanaji Malusare to capture Kondhana and protect Southern India from Mughal invasion. The Mughal emperor sent his trusted commander Uday Bhan to defend the fortress, The battle for the control of the fortress which decided the fate of Southern India is popularly known as the 'Battle of Sinhagad'.

Uri is based on the true events of the surgical strike conducted by the Indian military against the suspected militants in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
