# Yash's Toxic ends North America run at $1.71 million, far short of break-even

Yash's period gangster action thriller Toxic has finished its run in North America with numbers that fall far below what the market needed. The film has already taken heavy losses at home, and the USA and Canada have not offered any relief.

Hopes were huge, since Toxic marked Yash's return after the record-breaking success of KGF Chapter 2. But repeated delays and weak promotional material dulled the buzz before release. Pre-sales were slow, and the film opened with $886K (8.49 crore) on day one, a figure that included $600K (5.75 crore) from premiere shows.

Poor word-of-mouth then took hold, and collections dropped sharply after the opening. The final tally stands at $1.71 million, roughly 16.38 crore in Indian rupees. The USA accounted for $1.14 million (10.92 crore) of that total, while Canada added $570K (5.46 crore).

The language split shows the Hindi version in front with $701K (6.72 crore). Telugu came next with $580K (5.56 crore), followed by Kannada at $380K (3.64 crore). The other versions barely registered. Tamil collected $33K (31 lakh), English made $14.5K (13.89 lakh), and Malayalam brought in only $1.5K (1.44 lakh).

The film needed $6.5 million (62.28 crore) in North America to break even. Against that mark, its $1.71 million covers just 26.31 percent. That leaves a shortfall of about $4.79 million (45.9 crore), or 73.69 percent of the target.

For the buyers who acquired the North American rights, the result is a costly setback. For Yash and the team, it is a painful end to an overseas run that began with sky-high expectations.
