> Vijay Deverakonda says tracks from Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar play nonstop in gyms across South India, as he and Rashmika Mandanna get ready for their period drama Ranabaali, releasing October 16.

Vijay Deverakonda has a fun take on what gym regulars in the South are listening to. He was on a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra alongside his wife Rashmika Mandanna, and the actor said songs from the Hindi film Dhurandhar play on loop in gyms across South India.

The host asked the couple which Hindi songs are heard the most down South. Vijay picked Dhurandhar, but he could not remember the exact song names, so he asked the host to hum a few. He added that his own playlist is full of independent music.

The chat comes as the pair get ready for Ranabaali, which opens worldwide on October 16. The period drama is set under British rule, between 1854 and 1878. It tells a made-up story drawn from little-known chapters of Rayalaseema's past, and it follows a fierce warrior named Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali.

Vijay plays the title role and Rashmika plays Jayamma. This is their third film as a lead pair after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, and their first since they got married. Rahul Sankrityan directs, Ajay-Atul have composed the music, and Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo is also in the cast. The team finished shooting in September. Mythri Movie Makers is reportedly producing the film, with T-Series presenting it.

As for Dhurandhar, Aditya Dhar directed it with Ranveer Singh in the lead, and a sequel followed, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The first film came out on December 5, 2025 and the second reached cinemas on March 19, 2026. The cast also had Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and R Madhavan. Reports say the two spy films together made over Rs 3000 crore worldwide.
