# Venkat Prabhu says no hard feelings with Sivakarthikeyan after film is dropped

Director Venkat Prabhu has cleared the air around his shelved project with Sivakarthikeyan. In a long note posted on X on Monday, he confirmed that the film they had planned together could not get going for a number of reasons. He also made it clear there was no bad blood, calling the actor, whom he refers to as SK, a close friend and a brother.

The note follows comments by his father, Gangai Amaran, who reportedly criticised an unnamed star for wasting his son's dates and holding up his next film. Many people on social media took this to mean Sivakarthikeyan. Venkat Prabhu stood by his father, saying any parent would feel frustrated when a son's film gets delayed, but added that his father probably did not know the full story and he could not blame him for that.

The director said he keeps quiet about his work and rarely discusses professional matters in detail with anyone, his father included. "No hard feelings," he wrote, adding that he would happily team up with SK again if the right script came along. He asked people to put a full stop to the chatter, said he was busy with his next project and sent his best wishes for the actor's upcoming film Seyon.

Sivakarthikeyan reportedly replied warmly, telling the director that they are family and that he will always be a fan. He also wished Venkat Prabhu well for his next venture and said he hoped they would work together soon. The dropped project is reported to have been a science fiction film.

Seyon, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, recently finished its second schedule of shooting, according to reports. Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International is producing it with Turmeric Media, and Baghyashrii Borse reportedly plays the female lead. Reports say the film is set for release in October.

The actor reportedly has another film lined up, tentatively titled SK27, with Ramkumar Balakrishnan directing, Kayadu Lohar in the cast and music by Sai Abhyankkar. Venkat Prabhu, whose credits include GOAT, Maanaadu and Biriyani, is said to be finalising the cast for his next film, though nothing official has been announced yet.
