# The Paradise: Makers Claim Rs 114 Crore Gross as Trade Flags Day 2 Drop

Nani's action drama The Paradise is drawing two very different box office readings after its first two days in theatres. The producers say the film has already entered the Rs 100 crore club. At the same time, trade circles in the Telugu states report that collections slipped noticeably on the second day.

SLV Cinemas, the banner behind the film, released a special poster saying The Paradise has collected more than Rs 114 crore gross worldwide in two days. The film had reportedly grossed over Rs 88 crore on its opening day alone. With Saturday and Sunday coming up, film analysts expect the weekend to bring in big numbers.

The picture looks less rosy from the distribution side. According to a leading distributor, the film earned around Rs 29 crore share on day one in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, premiere shows included, helped by heavy pre-release hype and high-priced premieres. The second day reportedly brought in only about Rs 11 crore share, taking the two-day total in the Telugu states past Rs 40 crore share. The same distributor said the trend was sliding further and that some shows had been cancelled in both states.

The dip comes as audience reactions online stay mixed. Some viewers have praised Nani's performance and the scale of the film, while others have found fault with parts of its execution. Nani responded in a social media post, saying he had seen the reactions, enjoyed the funny trolling and felt heartwarmed by how audiences had taken to the film. He added that he had taken note of the flaws raised by critics and reviewers.

Directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Cherukuri Sudhakar, The Paradise has music by Anirudh Ravichander. Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead, and the cast also includes Mohan Babu, Sonali Kulkarni, Eswari Rao, Sampoornesh Babu and Tanikella Bharani. The film hit screens on September 24.

Nani comes into this release on the back of hits like Dasara and Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. How well The Paradise holds up from here will likely depend on stronger word of mouth through its first weekend.
