# The Paradise hits screens with big premiere rush and a court question on ticket rates

> Nani's The Paradise opens with sold out premieres in Hyderabad, more than a million dollars in North American pre-sales, and the Telangana High Court asking how the ticket price hike was cleared.

Nani's The Paradise is finally in theatres, and the premiere rush around it has been building all day. Premiere shows were lined up across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and North America, with the Nizam premieres starting from 9 PM onwards. After weeks of delays and speculation, the release has moved ahead smoothly.

Overseas, the film has already crossed the one million dollar mark in North America through premiere pre-sales alone. Back home, Hyderabad bookings tell the same story even with the higher ticket prices. AMB Cinemas sold out all 8 shows, AAA Cinemas had 4 shows sold out or filling fast, Prasads reported 6 and INOX Ashoka 5. PVR Nexus, PVR Central, PVR Icon, Bhramaramba, Mallikarjuna and the X Roads theatres all saw rapid bookings.

The ticket rates themselves are now in court. The Telangana High Court has questioned the state government's approval for enhanced prices, with Justice NV Shravan Kumar hearing the matter around the September 20 memo. The court noted that an earlier direction required price hike proposals to be made public 90 days before release, and prima facie found that was not followed. It also pointed to Clause 11 of GO 77, which needs written reasons for any hike, and adjourned the matter for two weeks. Andhra Pradesh has separately cleared premieres at 400 rupees in multiplexes and 300 in single screens, with extra rates of 75 and 50 rupees from September 24 to October 3.

Getting here was not simple. Directed by Srikanth Odela and produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under SLV Cinemas, the film reportedly ran past its schedule and budget. Dil Raju recently said Cherukuri was not keen on selling rights at very high prices, and Nani is said to have assured financiers and distributors that he would stand by them, which reportedly eased pressure on upfront clearances.

On screen, Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead and Sonali Kulkarni plays Nani's mother Sammakka, with Lavannya Sahukara as the younger Sammakka. Mohan Babu and Raghav Juyal take on the antagonist roles, and Anirudh Ravichander scores the music.

The Telangana flavour has been central to the buzz, from the Telangana slang in the first teaser to the Yeshanagula song, and two Hyderabad theatres are even serving Sarvapindi with the show. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy called Odela a talented young Telangana director in his reply to Nani on X. After Dasara, the hype is enormous. From tonight, the content has to match it.
