Sunita Ahuja has spoken openly about the strain in her marriage to Govinda and asked Gen Z and women to stand with her. Her comments follow weeks of talk linking the actor to Komal Rani Swarnkar, his co-star in the film Roopa. The two were recently seen together at Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai, and that sighting only added to the chatter.

Sunita spoke to the media after visiting the Dakshineswar Kali temple near Kolkata. She said the Goddess is known for destroying evil, that there are "rakshas", or demons, in her life too, and that she had prayed for them to be wiped out. She also said she had come to ask for every obstacle in her life to be removed.

She then claimed the whole situation was being created for publicity and asked people not to encourage it. She asked parents to imagine how they would feel if their own daughter or daughter-in-law went through the same thing. Appealing to young people and women for support, she said what was happening to her was not right and that her home was breaking apart for no reason.

Talk of trouble in the marriage began in December 2024, when reports said Sunita had filed for divorce. In February 2025, Govinda's manager confirmed that the couple had separated but said their differences had been settled. In August this year, Sunita withdrew her divorce petition as the rumours about the actor and his co-star grew louder.

The dating rumours began when Govinda and Komal were seen together at the Mumbai airport earlier this year. After the Lalbaugcha Raja visit, Govinda told a news agency that the matter was nobody's business even if there were an affair, and that he was keeping the relationship professional. He also recalled visiting temples with his former co-stars Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon, and said those visits had brought him luck. He reportedly said he had gone to pray for Roopa because he was starting a new project after a long gap.

Govinda and Sunita married in 1987 and have two children, a daughter, Tina Ahuja, and a son, Yashvardhan Ahuja. Sunita's latest comments have once again put the spotlight on their 39-year marriage.
