> Shriya Saran says morphed AI images of her keep circulating online, some so real she cannot tell if it is her, after a fake Chuttamalle video of Janhvi Kapoor angered the film industry.

Shriya Saran has joined the actors pushing back against AI tools being used to sexualise women, and she says she has been a target herself.

The Drishyam 3 actor said doctored pictures of her keep turning up online. Some look so real that she cannot always tell whether the woman in them is actually her. Others enlarge parts of her body or strip away the clothes she had on. She tries not to take it too seriously, she said, but she called the practice irritating and wrong.

She did not write off the technology itself. In her view AI can help people in many ways, yet it can also push things in harmful directions, a risk she believes comes with every new tool. Over time, she said, people will have to either adapt to it or confront it. She added that the industry has plenty of ground left to cover, but that change is under way.

Her remarks follow a fake clip of Janhvi Kapoor that drew anger across the film world. The AI edit reworked her look in Chuttamalle, the song she shares with Jr NTR in their 2024 film Devara, and showed her in an explicit way before it was pulled down. Janhvi posted a long note on Instagram calling it a criminal misuse of AI that came close to sexual assault.

Jr NTR, Chiranjeevi, Vijay Deverakonda and Khushbu Sundar were among those who backed her.
