> Salman Khan's war drama Maatrubhumi has reportedly received an NOC from the I&B Ministry after reshoots softened its portrayal of China, with a November 13 release being eyed if CBFC certification is completed this month.

Salman Khan's war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace may finally be nearing a theatrical release. According to reports, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry is satisfied with a reworked version of the film and issued it a No Objection Certificate (NOC) last week. The makers have not confirmed the development yet.

The film was first built around the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. Reports say it went through reshoots after the Defence Ministry objected to its early anti-China tone. A source quoted in the reports calls the new cut highly altered from the original, adding that it now shows the relationship between India and China in a positive light. All references to China were reportedly dropped during the reshoots.

On the release front, Salman is reportedly eyeing November 13, hoping to catch the festive mood that lingers after Diwali. That plan hinges on the Central Board of Film Certification, as the film is yet to be submitted to the board. If certification wraps up this month, the team could lock that date, placing Maatrubhumi in theatres a week after Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Part One, starring Ranbir Kapoor.

The journey so far has been rocky. Announced as Battle of Galwan, the film was renamed earlier this year. Its teaser reportedly showed Salman as Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who died in the Galwan clash along with 19 other soldiers, and it drew criticism from Chinese state-backed media.

Maatrubhumi was originally slated for April before being pushed back, and the makers have since denied reports that the project was shelved. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salma Khan under Salman Khan Films, it also features Chitrangada Singh in a key role. Reports say a clearer picture on the release should emerge within the next 10 days.
