> Rishab Shetty thanked his team and fans as Kantara Chapter 1 completed a year, while anniversary posts that left out Hombale Films have reportedly revived talk of a rift, though nothing has been confirmed.

Rishab Shetty has looked back on the making of Kantara Chapter 1 as the prequel completes one year since it reached theatres around the world. In a heartfelt note, the actor-director thanked his crew and his audience and spoke about how hard it was to return to a world people already loved.

Rishab said the biggest test was taking a prequel to viewers who had embraced the original Kantara so warmly. Going back to the roots of the story and widening its world felt like both a duty and an honour, he wrote. He called every member of his team his backbone and said the joy on audience faces after the release is still fresh for him, from the silence in the hall to the applause that followed.

The franchise began with the first Kantara five years ago and now covers two stories, with Chapter 1 travelling further back into the origins of its world. Rishab summed up the run as five years, two stories and one dream, and asked fans to keep backing the team in all its future work. His post reportedly also carried behind-the-scenes pictures and moments from the film.

The anniversary has also set off talk online. According to reports, Rishab's artwork did not carry the Hombale Films logo, and he did not tag the production house. Hombale reportedly shared its own anniversary post, showing a tiger rising out of flames next to its logo, with no picture or mention of Rishab. Some fans have read the tiger image as a pointed message.

Reports say the chatter is not new. In March 2026, Rishab was said to have unfollowed Hombale Films, along with Chapter 1 co-stars Rukmini Vasanth and Raj B Shetty, though neither side linked this to any dispute. Industry rumours point to creative differences, money matters and doubts over the franchise's future, and Rishab's other projects, including Jai Hanuman, have added to the talk.

For now, there is no official word that Rishab and Hombale have parted ways. Kantara is the film that turned Rishab into a pan-India star, and neither he nor the banner has said anything to confirm a split.
