> Richa Chadha says the trolling of Katrina Kaif and other actresses over their bodies after childbirth comes from anonymous social media users and not the film industry, and that such people deserve to be ignored.

Richa Chadha has lashed out at online trolls who target actresses over their bodies after childbirth, saying the attacks come from the public and not from the film industry.

Katrina Kaif has faced body-shaming comments online over her appearance after becoming a mother. Speaking in an interview, Richa, who became a mother herself in 2024, said women should pay no attention to anyone passing remarks about their bodies.

She called the industry "very respectful" of women who raise children while keeping their careers, and named Madhuri, Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukherjee and Sonali Bendre as examples. The trolling, she argued, comes from "the common man of India who is ugly and balding and has a disgusting paunch", who believes that commenting on Katrina or Aishwarya Rai somehow improves his own life. She added that the subject deserves far less space in media discussion.

Social media anonymity, Richa said, has made such people bold. In her view, they are "beggars in their lives" who think they can pass judgment on women of the level of Miss World and Miss Universe, as if they are owed something. "They are just losers and they deserve to be ignored," she said.

How a woman responds is her own choice, the actor said. Some take Ozempic and some hit the gym, and she is fine with both.

At a recent event in the UK, Katrina addressed the trolling herself. She said she does not let social media chatter decide her self-worth, and that if every critique had dictated her actions, fear would have left her unable to move ahead. There are times the world celebrates you, she said, and other times you have to be your own biggest cheerleader.
