> Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali, reportedly due in theatres on October 16, is seen as a key test after years without a clear hit, while he and Rashmika Mandanna open up about their relationship.

Vijay Deverakonda's next film, Ranabaali, is reportedly set to reach theatres on October 16, and a lot is riding on it. Reports say the actor has not had a clear box office winner since 2018. That was the year Geetha Govindam and Taxiwaala made him one of the biggest draws in one report.

The years since then have been uneven. Dear Comrade won praise for its story and music but finished below average in business terms. World Famous Lover could not pull audiences in, and the pan-India outing Liger was a major letdown. Kushi steadied things with average collections, while The Family Star did not work and the big-budget Kingdom also struggled.

Director Rahul Sankrityan has reportedly said Vijay's performance will be the highlight of Ranabaali. According to reports, the actor plays a rebel whose role has several intense and emotional layers. The director believes audiences will see a completely new side of him. Rashmika Mandanna plays a key role, and the trailer is said to be arriving soon.

Off screen, Vijay and Rashmika recently sat down together for an interview about their relationship and how they went from co-stars to life partners. Vijay said he does not believe in love at first sight. He recalled that in his late twenties he used to wave off love as a marketing term. He said it took years of growing up to see it differently, and that he only felt ready for marriage at 36.

Rashmika spoke about the small efforts that keep a relationship alive, like simple daily check-ins that couples often stop making over time. Vijay called her the more mature one when it comes to relationships. He said she tells him she loves him many times a day and reminds him to say it back.

The trade will be watching closely. October 16 will show whether Ranabaali can end the long wait and give Vijay the solid hit he has been chasing since 2018.
