> Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part One is lined up for a worldwide opening on November 5, with paid previews in India on November 4, as Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash lead the two-part epic.

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part One is headed for a worldwide theatrical opening on November 5, with paid previews in India a day earlier on November 4, reports say. Dates for some overseas markets are still being worked out.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The mythological epic is being told in two parts, and its large ensemble also features Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil and Indira Krishnan.

In a behind-the-scenes video the makers released in September, Ranbir said the part felt less like a film offer and more like a responsibility. Rama's real strength, he said, was never his bow but his ability to forgive. His daily reminder on set was that he had to live up to the faith people place in the story, not to prove himself worthy of the role.

Producer Namit Malhotra has pitched the film as a spectacle on a global scale. Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, he called it "Avatar meets Gladiator in the world of Lord of the Rings" and described a god who comes down to earth as a human to understand how people feel and to fulfil his duty. At its core, he said, it is an emotional underdog story about sacrifice and revenge.
