# Rajinikanth praises Dorothy, tells Sananth an award is certain

> Rajinikanth called Karthik Subbaraj's Tamil film Dorothy fantastic and mindblowing, spent an hour discussing it with the director, and told actor Sananth an award for his role was certain.

Rajinikanth has praised Karthik Subbaraj's Tamil film Dorothy, calling it fantastic, beautiful and mindblowing after a long talk with the director.

Karthik posted pictures with the superstar on X. Lead actors Sananth and Rishikanth were also in them. He wrote that Rajinikanth spent an hour on every aspect of the film and told him, "This is the Karthik Subbaraj I was looking for." The director said he would never forget that conversation.

Sananth plays Subbu in the film, and he shared his own pictures from the meeting. He said Rajinikanth told him an award was certain, called it a challenging role and asked whether this was the same Anwar from Petta. Karthik directed Rajinikanth in that 2019 film, where Sananth had a small part.

Rishikanth posted photos too, and got Rajinikanth's autograph.

Soundarya Rajinikanth backed the film on X on Sunday. She wrote that Dorothy has heart and soul, and that it reminds viewers to accept everyone and treat everyone equally. As a producer who has told LGBTQ+ stories in Goa and Love, she said she will always stand with the community. She called Sananth's performance brilliant and congratulated Rishikanth and the whole team.

Dorothy is set in the 1990s and follows two men whose lives are thrown off course when a woman arrives. Keerthy Suresh plays a key role. The makers' press release says Ilaiyaraaja composed the original score, his 1540th film, with Jio Studios and Sikhya Entertainment backing the project. The film was picked for TIFF's international programme and had its world premiere at the festival.
