> Radhikka Madan has spoken up for Katrina Kaif amid criticism of her postpartum weight, recalling the body-shaming she faced after gaining 15 kg for Pataakha and why she now puts health ahead of size.

Radhikka Madan has come out in support of Katrina Kaif, who has been criticised for gaining weight after giving birth. The actor said women are judged on their looks all the time, and that she has been body-shamed herself.

She put on 15 kg for Pataakha, then lost it while shooting Shiddat and Angrezi Medium. Even so, she was told she was "too fat" to be a heroine. "I kept losing weight and shooting back-to-back, and fully became like bones," she said. Her health suffered, so she took a break.

Going from one label to the other changed how she saw it. First she was too heavy, then she was too thin. She asked herself why she kept trying to please people who would never be happy. So she decided to focus on feeling healthy instead of chasing a certain body size. "Now, I am chasing health," she said.

Tuning out trolls is easier said than done, she admitted, especially for young girls who look to social media for approval. She said the pressure starts in childhood, when girls only ever see one kind of woman on magazine covers. "The idea of a perfect woman is fed to us," she said.

Her own school years went differently. She had a unibrow and a lot of facial hair, but she credits her positive upbringing for making her feel beautiful anyway, and she never needed her friends to approve of her. When the unibrow went away and people started to notice her, she judged them for it, because she felt no different from before. Her advice is simple. Self-love may sound like a cliche, but accept yourself, have fun and find your own quirks.
