> Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer recalled turning down Ekta Kapoor's television offer in 2005 because he had a signed film contract, and said the next day's coverage painted him as arrogant.

Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer says that saying no to a television offer from Ekta Kapoor in 2005 got him branded arrogant, at a time when he was just 20 years old.

The singer talked about it in a conversation with Aamrapali Dubey. Kapoor came to meet him herself and narrated a story, laying out the full character of a rockstar. Qazi admitted he spent much of that meeting staring at her rings. He added that he has never done television.

He never refused her face to face. He sent his answer through a woman named Anupama instead: he was already tied to a film under a signed contract. "Ma'am, I am already doing a film. I have a contract, it's already signed," he recalled telling her.

The backlash came with his breakfast. The papers the next morning claimed he had dropped Kapoor because something bigger was waiting, with lines like "Qazi ditched Ekta Kapoor. Qazi has a bigger fish to fry." There was no social media back then to put out his side quickly, so the arrogant label stuck.

Qazi first became a household name in 2005 when he won the singing reality show Fame Gurukul with Ruprekha Banerjee. The win brought him a cash prize, a music contract and a car.

Later he tried acting, appearing in the song 'Afghan Jalebi' from Phantom, and took part in the reality show Sarkaar Ki Duniya. After years of live shows and other projects, he is back in the spotlight as a housemate on Bigg Boss 20, hosted by Salman Khan.
