The plot follows an ambitious young reporter and a seasoned cameraman who start looking into illegal sand mining. Dhruv Tripathi directs the film and wrote the screenplay with Mihir Jadhav. Partha Kiran Thakur and Joshua Shirsath are the producers. Parineeti leads a cast from different generations: Deven Bhojani, veteran actor Amol Palekar, Adil Hussain and Shekhar Suman also star.

Netflix reportedly shared the poster on X with a line asking whether the risk is bigger than the story. The post named the two lead characters as Sandhya and Vinod, and confirmed the October 9 date.

Tripathi has reportedly said the film has been part of their life for seven years, from writing it with Mihir to bringing it to the screen, and that seeing it ready for release feels surreal. Producer Partha Kiran Thakur reportedly said the stakes are high, both in the story and in the scale of the production. Thakur called the pairing of Parineeti and Deven Bhojani, never seen before on screen, a highlight, and said both actors play characters unlike any they have played before.
