# Nani's The Paradise heads for a record opening as wife Anjana pens an emotional note

Nani's The Paradise opens in theatres on September 24, and paid premiere shows start on the evening of September 23. The action drama is directed by Srikanth Odela, and it is their second film together after Dasara. Early numbers suggest the Natural Star could be heading for the biggest opening of his career.

Hours before the premieres, Nani's wife Anjana Yelavarthy shared an emotional note on Instagram about his journey. She remembered bunking college with friends in 2009 to watch one of his early films, only to find it had no morning show on release day. Now people book tickets for The Paradise because of the trust he has built film by film. She wrote that this "Rome" was not built in a day, and that she had watched every step of it.

The ticket counters back up her pride. Tracking figures shared on September 23 put the film's advance bookings in India past Rs 40 crore across six show dates, including block seats. Opening day alone brought in close to Rs 20 crore, and Hyderabad is the top city. Overseas pre-sales have crossed $1.5 million, reportedly the best ever for a Nani film. Trade talk points to a worldwide first day of around Rs 50 crore, but that is still an estimate, not a real collection.

In the film, Nani plays Jadal, a man from a marginalised community in 1980s Secunderabad who is caught up in a fight against oppression. Kayadu Lohar, Mohan Babu and Raghav Juyal play key roles. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, and Sudhakar Cherukuri produces under the SLV Cinemas banner. The film has an 'A' certificate from the CBFC.

The road to release was not smooth. The film was reportedly first planned for March 26 and then for August 21 before it was pushed again. Overseas, it is reportedly opening in more than 1,200 locations, the widest foreign release of Nani's career. For now, fans are waiting to see how the premiere shows land.
