> Mythri Movie Makers producer Ravi Shankar said Hanuman Ansh grossing ₹400 crore on a ₹2 crore budget is a slap in the face for big spenders, and spoke against AI misuse after Janhvi Kapoor's deepfake.

Producer Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers says Hanuman Ansh grossing ₹400 crore on a ₹2 crore budget feels like a slap in the face for an industry that spends big. He spoke at a pre-release press meet in Hyderabad ahead of the devotional film's Telugu release.

"We are spending crores of rupees with not much to show for it," Ravi Shankar said, calling Hanuman Ansh a real pan-Indian film. He asked the makers to release it in every language they had skipped so far. The Telugu version releases on October 9.

The producer also spoke about social media. He said it has become easy to throw mud at each other online, and that AI is now being misused so badly that nobody knows what is real. To him, the youth have become "polluted", and films with divine power that instil a fear of God are good for society. He was happy, he added, that Hanuman Ansh carries a message and is also a commercial superhit.

His comments follow an objectionable deepfake video of Janhvi Kapoor, made with the song Chuttamalle from Devara: Part 1, that spread on social media. Her co-star Jr NTR called its makers "disgusting, sick and shameless" and promised legal action. Janhvi said in a statement that using technology to objectify women without their consent is "almost equivalent to sexual assault". Chiranjeevi, Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Pothineni and Khushbu Sundar were among those who condemned the video.
