# Mary Kom's ex-husband Onler files criminal defamation case against her

Onler Kom, the former husband of Olympic medallist Mary Kom, has started criminal defamation proceedings against the boxer while she is inside the Bigg Boss house.

The complaint is filed under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Onler alleges that Mary hurt his reputation with remarks about him on television and in other interviews. A conviction under this section can bring up to two years in jail, a fine, or both. The next hearing is on November 19.

Confirming the move, Onler said he believes his case is strong and that he trusts the Indian courts. Since the matter is now before a judge, he refused to say anything more.

Mary's own accusations started the fight. On a TV show, she claimed Onler had cheated her of crores of rupees, taken loans in her name and shifted her assets into his name. He has denied every charge and hit back with claims of his own about her conduct during their marriage.

In a later statement, Mary said her comments about his football career were never meant to insult the sport. She explained that she was overwhelmed during the interview.

Married in 2005, the couple divorced in 2023. They have four children.
