> Madhuri Dixit paid tribute to Amitabh Bachchan on a special birthday episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, while her husband Dr Shriram Nene revealed Amitabh was the only celebrity he recognised at their wedding reception.

Madhuri Dixit paid a warm tribute to Amitabh Bachchan on a special birthday episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, telling him that time tried again and again to change him, but every time he changed his fortunes instead. The line drew applause from the studio audience.

The actor said she had not come just to play the game. She was there to celebrate his birthday, she told him, because people love him so much and he has fans in every generation. Viewers, she added, wanted to know him not only as an actor but as the person he was through each phase of his life.

Amitabh also features in a very different memory from the Dixit household. On Farah Khan's cooking vlog, shot at the couple's home, Dr Shriram Nene said Amitabh was the only celebrity he recognised at the reception they hosted for the film industry. He knew him from Amar Akbar Anthony.

Asked by Farah whether he did not even know Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, Dr Nene said no. He compared the night to being a prom king, waving at everyone and only later going through the wedding album to work out who had come. All the stars, he said, were very sweet to him.

Dr Nene also admitted he had never heard of Madhuri when the proposal came. Living in Los Angeles and unable to speak Hindi, he grew up on Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Star Wars rather than Hindi films. The two dated for three months before he proposed, and they kept the relationship secret until their wedding at her brother's house in the US.
