Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte's period gangster series Akka has reportedly locked its release date. Reports say the Yash Raj Entertainment production will begin streaming on Netflix on October 30, 2026. An official word from the platform is still awaited.

The series is set in the 1980s in a fictional South Indian town, reportedly named Pernuru, where women hold the political, social and economic power. At the top sits an elite sisterhood called the Akkas, who reportedly run the town's underground gold smuggling trade. They keep control through fear and loyalty, backed by a fighting force of women who guard the sisterhood's wealth and honour.

Trouble begins when a mysterious outsider arrives with a personal grudge against the sisterhood. Instead of taking them on head on, she works on their internal rivalries and divisions. As alliances break and violence spreads, the gangster queens have to deal with treachery from inside their own circle, and a private vendetta grows into a wider fight for power and survival.

Debutant Dharmaraj Shetty directs, with Tanvi Azmi in a key role alongside the two leads. The project reportedly marks Keerthy Suresh's first streaming series and pits her against Radhika Apte. Reports say the show went into production in November 2023, and the makers unveiled its first look in 2025.

Akka is reportedly the third series to come out of the tie-up between Yash Raj Entertainment and Netflix India, after The Railway Men and Mandala Murders. It is also described as the banner's biggest streaming project so far.

On the film side, Keerthy Suresh was last seen in Dorothy, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Her upcoming lineup reportedly includes Rowdy Janardhana, Sathyavan Savithri and January 12 Vidudala.
