> Jim Sarbh says he accidentally hit Sonam Kapoor in the mouth with a gun on his first day shooting his debut film Neerja, and talks about getting used to the hierarchy on film sets.

Jim Sarbh has looked back at a tense moment from his very first day on a film set. While shooting his debut film Neerja, the actor accidentally hit co-star Sonam Kapoor in the mouth with a gun. He talked about it in a recent interview, as he looks back on a decade in films.

Ram Madhvani's Neerja released in 2016, with Sonam Kapoor playing Neerja Bhanot in the biopic. Jim played one of the terrorists who hijack the plane. He said the accident filled him with panic, and he remembers asking himself, "Oh my God, what have I done?" He added that he will never forget how intense that moment felt.

Sonam, he said, took it in her stride. Jim called her "such a sport about it" and joked that he was lucky not to be fired from his first film, because otherwise his career might never have happened.

The actor also talked about the hierarchy he found on film sets after coming from theatre. He said it was new and strange to him back then, and that he still does not feel fully used to it. In theatre, everyone had worked together on one shared project. He reportedly went further, saying that the more these strict hierarchies are broken down, the better filmmaking will become. He said people can feel undervalued inside such a structure, and that this lets mediocrity thrive. He also reportedly praised his latest show, Titan, as a project where that system did not exist.

Since Neerja, Jim has built a varied body of work. His films include Death in the Gunj, Padmaavat, Sanju, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. On streaming, he has appeared in Made in Heaven, Rocket Boys and Four More Shots Please.
