> Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 releases on October 15 with the second-biggest opening-day advance sales of his career, behind only Coolie, while its Hindi dubbed version faces a setback in multiplexes.

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 opens in theatres this Thursday, October 15, and advance sales point to one of the biggest starts of his career.

Opening-day pre-sales are now the second highest for any Rajinikanth release. Only Coolie, which sold about ₹46 crore in advance, sits above it. Across all days, bookings in India have already gone past ₹50 crore.

Estimates for the worldwide first-day gross run from close to ₹100 crore to as much as ₹140 crore once spot bookings are added. Pre-sales abroad are strong as well, so overseas markets are doing their part.

Its Hindi dubbed version is the weak spot. Reports say leading multiplex chains PVR INOX and Cinepolis will not show it, after a disagreement over the four-week OTT window.

Nelson Dilipkumar returns as writer and director, and Kalanithi Maran produces under Sun Pictures. Ramya Krishnan also stars.
