> Sree Harsha Konuganti returns to direct Husharu 2, the sequel to his 2018 youth entertainer, unveiled with a mythology-inspired title poster and a cast that includes Ashok Galla, Rahul Ramakrishna and Dinesh Tej.

The makers of the 2018 youth entertainer Husharu have officially announced a sequel, titled Husharu 2. Sree Harsha Konuganti, who directed the first film, is back to helm the new one. Reports say Ashok Galla leads the sequel this time.

The original film is reported to have turned into a sleeper hit. Its cast featured Tejus Kancherla, Tej Kurapati, Dinesh Tej, Abhinav Medishetti, Rahul Ramakrishna, Daksha Nagarkar, Priya Vadlamani, Hemal Ingle and Ramya Pasupuleti. Two of those faces, Dinesh Tej and Rahul Ramakrishna, are part of the new film as well.

The announcement came with a title poster that is anything but ordinary. It shows five friends surrounded by a truck loaded with beer, a giant snake, a turtle, a treasure chest and a factory. The whole frame seems to take its cue from the Samudra Manthan legend, the churning of the ocean of milk.

Going by reports, the story follows five friends who lose everything during COVID. They head to Chittragunj with a big business idea, an agave-based tequila distillery, and their attempt to rebuild their lives drags them into one chaotic situation after another. The makers promise a fresh story built on friendship, youthful humour and plenty of mayhem.

Apart from Ashok Galla, Rahul Ramakrishna, Dinesh Tej, Vidhi Yadav and Abhignya Vuthuluru, the cast reportedly includes Ravi Anthony, Sasidhar Kocharlakota, Bhagwan Tiwari, Jatin Goswami and Rajai Rowan.

Work on the film is well advanced, though reports differ on the exact stage. One account says the major schedules are complete and the film is now in post-production, while another says the shoot is nearing completion. The team is reportedly targeting a year-end theatrical release, and the release date along with more promotional material is expected to be revealed soon.
