Soon the girl's word is up against blind faith, political influence and the godman's carefully built public image.

The main complaint is that the story feels too familiar. Reviewers point out that Aashram, Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai and Maharaj have already told the story of a godman accused of abusing a young girl, and that Hunkkaar adds little new. The show is also criticised for filling its episodes with extra characters and backstories that go nowhere, including Arjun Mathur's TV journalist.

Yadav's Baapji is praised in every review. His calm, quiet menace keeps the character from ever becoming a cartoon villain, and that makes him even more disturbing. The biggest highlight is Meenu's testimony in court, where she asks why a victim has to describe her assault again and again. Critics say this is the moment the show finally lives up to its title.

Opinions on Padda are split. One review calls the role a strong follow-up to her work in Saiyaara, while another feels she cannot hold the intensity the part needs. Shaikh is praised for playing the officer with restraint instead of as a crusading hero. Ram Kapoor, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Rajesh Sharma and Seema Biswas complete the cast. The series has reportedly been given a rating of 2.5 stars.
