# Hema Malini, 77, performs her Durga ballet in Hyderabad on Navratri's first day

Hema Malini, 77, brought her best-known dance ballet, Durga, to Hyderabad. She performed it at the Classic Convention Centre on October 11, the first day of Navratri.

The show was part of the Agra Dandiya Navratri celebrations put together by the Agarwal Samaj, Telangana. The evening also marked Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti.

For the recital, the veteran star played Mata Parvati and shared the stage with an artiste who played Lord Shiva. She later posted photographs and a video from the night on Instagram. She called Durga "my most popular ballet" and wrote that she "felt truly blessed" to perform it as the festival began. In the same posts she wished her followers a happy Navratri and Durga Puja.

Fans filled the comments with praise. "So beautifully divine," one wrote. Another thanked her for coming to Hyderabad.

Away from films like Sholay, the BJP MP is a Bharatanatyam dancer. For years she has used the stage to retell stories from Hindu mythology, often through the forms of Goddess Durga, with expressive movement and elaborate costumes. The Hyderabad show carried that tradition into this year's Navratri.
