> The Telugu version of Vishal Chaturvedi's Hindi hit Hanuman Ansh has drawn a weak response, and producer Abhishek Agarwal says arriving 45 days after the original cost it a fresh audience.

Hanuman Ansh became a big hit in Hindi, but the Vishal Chaturvedi film has failed to find its feet in Telugu. The Telugu version opened to a muted response from audiences in the region.

Reports say it earned a share of Rs 1.02 crore in its first two days. That is well short of the Rs 7 crore it needs to break even.

Producer Abhishek Agarwal put the slump down to timing. In his view, the Telugu version came 45 days after the Hindi original, and by then most viewers had already seen and loved it. He pointed out that Hyderabad ranked fourth or fifth in the country for occupancy of the Hindi release.

A Telugu release, he argued, should follow within a week of the original's success, or a fresh audience becomes hard to find. Still, Agarwal stopped short of faulting the makers. He said every team has its own strategy, and some strategies work while others do not.

He had warm words for Chaturvedi, rating his work among the best in Indian cinema and hoping other directors learn from the film's success. Agarwal also said audiences would remember Hanuman Ansh for a long time.
