> Producer Ragini Sona has denied reports of a Rs 100 crore OTT deal for Hanuman Ansh, saying offers exist but nothing is signed, as the Neem Karoli Baba film crosses Rs 280 crore net in India.

Talk of a Rs 100 crore streaming deal for Hanuman Ansh has been shot down by the film's own camp. Producer Ragini Sona has said that while digital platforms are making offers, nothing close to that figure is on the table, and no deal has been signed yet. She added that the OTT partner will be announced at the right time, just not immediately.

The delay is a deliberate one. Director Vishal Chaturvedi wants to let the theatrical run keep going, and Sona said she is backing his judgement because every call he has made on this film has fallen into place. The team wants to see how long audiences keep turning up before it moves to the digital stage.

Sona also made a case for the big screen itself. She said the film is built for a theatre, where nothing pulls your attention away the way it does at home, and that viewers have been staying in their seats long after the credits start rolling. She described people sitting with folded hands and slippers off, especially after the sequence where the Hanuman Chalisa is chanted and a raksha chakra forms on all four sides.

The numbers explain the confidence. Made on an estimated budget of Rs 1.75 crore to Rs 2 crore, the film has crossed Rs 280 crore net in India, roughly Rs 331 crore gross, and a worldwide total of about Rs 366 crore. It opened quietly on August 7 with Rs 1.08 crore in week one, then climbed on word of mouth to Rs 61 crore in week four and Rs 90.25 crore in week five.

Along the way it has passed the India net lifetime of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior at Rs 279.5 crore, the Hindi version of RRR at Rs 277 crore and Kabir Singh at Rs 278.24 crore, with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 next in line. Reports say day 48 has already pushed the India net past Rs 281 crore, putting the Rs 300 crore mark within reach.

Drishyam 3, reportedly due on October 2, will take screens, and Sona expects an impact, though she said the two films are not chasing the same audience. The team is now aiming at a 100 day theatrical run for a film that started this small.
