# Hanuman Ansh crosses Rs 263 crore nett in India after a record seventh week

> The low budget devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has posted the biggest seventh week in Indian box office history and stands at around Rs 263 crore nett in India after 46 days, with Rs 300 crore now in sight.

Hanuman Ansh has done something almost no Indian film has ever managed. In its seventh week, a stretch where most releases are already out of theatres, the devotional drama has posted the biggest seventh week collection of all time, beating the previous best set by Dhurandhar and Kantara. After 46 days the film stands at roughly Rs 263 crore nett at the Indian box office.

The seventh weekend was the headline. The film took about Rs 5 crore nett on Friday and Rs 9.50 crore on Saturday, then jumped on Sunday to somewhere between Rs 13.25 crore and Rs 13.75 crore nett, reports differ slightly on the exact figure. That single Sunday was bigger than the entire previous seventh week record for a Hindi film.

Monday held too. The film is reported to have collected in the range of Rs 3.75 crore to Rs 4 crore nett on its seventh Monday, the biggest seventh Monday on record, with the next best only around Rs 1.10 crore. Trade watchers expect it to keep taking all time weekly records right up to week ten at this pace.

The weekly chart tells the real story of how this one grew. Week one brought in Rs 0.90 crore nett and week two just Rs 0.50 crore. Then word of mouth took over, week three moved to Rs 10.35 crore, week four to Rs 58.25 crore, week five to Rs 84.75 crore and week six to Rs 76.75 crore. Very few films in Indian cinema have ever climbed like that.

Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film is a biographical drama built around the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba. Worldwide, it has reportedly reached a gross of about Rs 346.88 crore in 45 days, passing the lifetime Hindi worldwide numbers of RRR, Bang Bang, Drishyam 2 and Uri: The Surgical Strike.

The budget is what makes all of this remarkable. Made for a reported Rs 1.8 crore, Hanuman Ansh has returned more than 150 times that outlay, one of the highest returns on investment Indian cinema has seen. Rs 275 crore nett looks likely by the end of this week, and Rs 300 crore nett after that.
